This used to be the starting hole and is one of the more challenging par 4s. According to the club’s centennial history, it got its name from Captain Thomas Taylor’s home “Belmont”, just off Tayforth Rd. At the club’s official opening on its current site in 1906, the then club president “directed” the course be known as Belmont and was also the name given to the first hole.
