For a long time players hitting off the fifth tee were driving over part of a quarry because the original tee was to the right of the 4th green. It was shifted to its current spot when players were worried about being hit by balls hit into the 4th. We can’t ascertain if metal from the quarry was used for tracks around the course or if it was privately or council-owned.
