This testing par 3 is guarded by out of bounds on the left and a hill to the right. Players are confronted by an intimidating narrow gap directly in front of the tee box. We assume this tight gap reminded earlier club members of French Pass, a narrow and treacherous stretch of water between D’Urville Island and the north end of the South Island. The tidal flow is so strong it can stun fish. This hole can do the same to golfers.
